Senator Manchin And 14 AGs Just Moved Against Biden – And The AGs Could File Lawsuits If Joe Doesn’t Reopen Keystone Pipeline

It might be President Biden’s most controversial executive order: the cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline permit. This has created backlash among politicians, labor unions, and state leaders.

While Democrats and other leftist influencers applauded the move and are calling for more pipeline shutdowns, many have questioned the possible consequences of such a move.

This includes a member of Biden’s own party — Sen. Joe Manchin.

Manchin, who has already stood against some of the new President’s orders, believes POTUS made a big mistake in taking down the Keystone pipeline. And he isn’t alone, either.

He just recently sent a letter to Biden, begging him to reconsider his decision.

From Fox News:

Sen. Joe Manchin wrote a letter to President Biden Tuesday asking him to rethink his executive order revoking the Keystone XL pipeline permit.

‘Pipelines continue to be the safest mode to transport our oil and natural gas resources and they support thousands of high-paying, American union jobs,’ the West Virginia Democrat wrote.

After former President Donald Trump rejuvenated the pipeline, Biden went after it on his first day in office.

But it could have long-lasting repercussions for America, and Manchin specifically cites the “potential impacts of any further action to safety, jobs, and energy security.

And again, Manchin isn’t alone in pushing back against Biden on this issue.

A total of 14 Attorneys General from around the country have also sent a letter to Biden addressing the same problem, and they come from the following states:

Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, and West Virginia.

In part, their letter to the President reads:

As the chief legal officers of our states, we write with alarm regarding your unilateral and rushed decision to revoke the 2019 Presidential Permit for the Keystone XL pipeline.

Your decision will result in devastating damage to many of our states and local communities. Even those states outside the path of the Keystone XL pipeline—indeed all Americans—will suffer serious, detrimental consequences.

While Democrats continue to push for more electric energy and less reliance on fossil fuels, thousands of citizens still need their jobs in the oil industry.

A sudden hit like this will definitely be felt, and that’s what Manchin and the AGs are concerned about.

Manchin said he liked Biden’s “Build Back Better” idea, but strongly stated that the U.S. must maintain “energy security through strategic relationships with our allies rather than increasing reliance on OPEC nations and Russia.”

We’ll have to see if the President responds to these letters.

Because if he doesn’t, states have already threatened legal action, and they might just take the next step if Biden keeps going down this path.

Key Takeaways:

  • Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin sent a letter to President Biden, asking him to reconsider his Keystone XL pipeline order.
  • He’s joined by 14 Attorneys General, who cite “devastating damage to many of our states and local communities.”
  • Manchin and other concerned politicians worry that we’re making a mistake: we’re going back to relying on foreign powers for our energy needs.
