Queensbury 1st Ward Councilman Tony Metivier  filed Conservative and Democratic nominating petitions for his re-election bid on Monday, according to the Warren County Board of Elections website.

Metivier, a Republican, has said he also will challenge Hal Bain, the Queensbury Republican Committee-endorsed candidate, in a Republican primary.

Under New York election law, candidates can run on multiple party lines, but must receive permission from the party if the candidate is not enrolled in that party.

It was unclear on Monday whether the Conservative Party has authorized Metivier to run on its line.

Warren County Conservative Chairwoman Carol Birkholz said the party will announce its endorsements once all nominating petitions have been filed and the committee reviews them.

Thursday is the deadline to file party nominating petitions.

The Warren County Democratic Committee already has announced its endorsement of Metivier.
